Hi! I'm not sure I'm writing to the right forum. I just entered a competition but found that you can share here too, I hope to get people to share with.
I live in London, England and have retired already. I went back to College and before I get into something definite I am exploring possibilities in diferent courses I've taken. I hope to get into full education for next year.

I think introducing threads are not that good. Imagine thousand members to introduce...
Every time you would have to say the same. "Welcome, be sure you check out this or this and enjoy this place". It would lead to spammers I guess.
If you are new here - I'm new too - remember to not reply on topics that are 5 months old. It doesn't have any value.

I've been on forums with hundreds of thousands of users, it never gets to busy, if you want to post you do, if you don't you don't. Its not up to me to make or decide to have that kinda thread though ;)

I mean you can introduce yourself by posting, people will know more about you then just saying Hi.

Well, think of it as an ice breaker thread...
Plus, this could be a thread were newcomers can ask questions about how the site works. Instead of creating a new thread for every issue they may think they encounter.

Funny, I'm an IVC student(out of state tuition waaay too costly for UCI just yet!).
Started on here by way of hearing about the contest,but I like building up ideas and writing what's on my mind.It's fun.
Where do you all find inspiration for your articles?

My article will go about my job in the future. You get the best inspiration when you write about stuff you have experienced yourself. But that's just my own opinion. Also writing in nature gives you a relaxed feeling and written goes better. I wrote 1/2 article in nature, the other half was to search for information and pictures.

How set are you about your future job, Dev? With this economy, things change really quickly! My best advice would be to always keep your options open. You never know what you'll actually end up doing; there's always the possibility that the profession you originally planned for just won't be hiring when you're done with school!

I know, I planned that, but it's very unlikely I don't find a job in that category, I think. More and more people are needed, and when I finish college the finicial/economical crisis will be over too. I can go to everywhere basicly, from game developer to building homes, offices (virtually, on the PC)
However if I don't find I job the first months, I will try to work in a restaurant or do another job, but not like a decade...

You've got it sorted! As for me, I'm pretty much aiming to go into marketing I think. It does sound like fun, and everyone wants someone marketing for them!

Yeah, marketing will be an appreciated job. Companies/People will be happy you can do it, because they can't or don't have the time. Always remember if you work hard, it pays off, not immediately, but later.

I was on another student blog and someway I was redirected to this one. Later I saw CollegeTimes also took part of the HP, Windows, Ivy Worldwide contest. Then there wasn't any doubt to join anymore because before I just read stuff, never posted...

I did not realy blog. Some years ago I was a moderator that hosted many people, most of them for free. I had to write server and other updates, but I didn't really wrote for blogs before, except of two or three articles.
