Hey,
I may have missed it somewhere on the options list, but if I didn't it would nice to be emailed when someone replies to a topic I have subscribed to or posted in. I'm not much for RSS so...
Just a thought :)

College Forum to discuss admissions, financial aid, SAT prep, Greek organizations, campus clubs, politics, etc.

That's a cool idea, though, if this community grow large, you'll get a lot of collegetimes mails. Then it will become frustrating, instead of helping people. Then the tool/app hasn't any use anymore.
But maybe this helps: on the top of the forum there is a area called: "Latest Discussions". If you check it you can see if someone responded on your topic. It's just an advice, it's up to you to use it.
Anyway, I see you're active so checking regulary isn't a problem I think. :-)
I always wondered if people actually used that feature. I generally just visit my favorite forums daily to see if anyone responded to my threads!
That's what I think too. I joined a site (hardware.info) some months ago and it's subscribing is default every time you post. Afcourse many people (including me) forget to uncheck the box. Then some hours later you check your mailbox and see... 15 new emails, all subscribed mails. Today it has become more frustrating then ever! I think you want to avoid this, just check sites on a regular base.
I dont mind the many emails, but the problem with no email system on this site is that, if there are many replies to many different threads I've responded to or started, they will get lost in the shuffle, It doesn't show my subscribed threads when I go into my profile.
I personally don't like email systems. If there is a thread you like, keep the browser window open or save the address somewhere. I hate getting spammed with subscriptions to topics I didn't even care about.
Register @ hardware.info and you will be crazy in about, let's say, one week. I'm not exaggerating, a week can be very long. Day after day you'll have to delete all those mails.
Though, RSS feeds can be a solution, but vanquised said already he isn't realy fond of it.
Well, its clear to me that you guys are just different types of people then me. I get easily 150 non-spam emails everyday, its what keeps me entertained throughout the day. plus, I use gmail, and gmail will take all the emails from a forum that you havent read. and combine them under one header. So it will say "You have a new reply at CollegeTimes.us" and it will have a number in parenthesis showing how many new emails there are under that header. makes it all simplified.
lol
But then you have to delete 150 mails manually... you must be joking if you like that. You call it entertaining, I call it waste of time. Anyway it could be an option to subscribe but not as default!
I count subscribe mails as spam. If I count them as real mail, then I also have a lot of mails every day. But still not 150. :P
lol, i dont delete emails. I just keep em in the inbox and click "Mark as read". I've got 7.5 gb of space through gmail, why not use em.
lol
Now I know why google had increased their harddisk space recently, thanks to people as you! :D
But yes, you're right, why not use it if you have it.
lol,
I remember back when google had only 2gb of space. why they feel the need to continue to make it grow. I don't kno lol.
Though the firefox application "Gspace" lets you use the google space more efficiently. You can upload almost whatever you want onto gmail and use it as storage.
I'm sushrukh & i'm from India.I'm wanting to participate in your HP contest but i can't post in your forum. My posts are not getting displayed in collegetimes forums ( " http://forum.collegetimes.us/ " ) . How do i will compete if i can't post in your forum ? Please help.Thanks.
I don't know how to fill 7.5gb of space just with text messages. You can start upload, but I don't like it to have personal files somewhere on the Internet, guess I'm old-fashioned...
lol.
I trust google, the most im worried about is them randomly destroying my account (like what happened to my friend) im not worried about them getting hacked.
That's a nice idea man.I also do support this.
Thanks :)
There is an option called " Subscribe To Topic via Email " .This should be of help. :)
Ya... it was added after his suggestion..
Yeah i also didn't notice that yesterday but found that today.
You must log in to post.
