Hmmm...having lived in a few states with significant Civil War history(South Carolina,Pennsylvania(Gettysburg area),and Virginia), I think my first reaction is that it is unfortunate and will certainly disrupt the beauty or environment the historical preservationists have set up around the area. You usually want to drive up to a town that still has older buildings from that area, and it really makes your visit feel more authentic.I think a Wal Mart would jar the picture a bit.
But we do need jobs, and as others commented below the article, how will we go about deciding which of the numerous Civil War sites are worth building near or not? What other businesses will move in Wal Mart's place? There needs to be a solution. But Walmart does have a shitload of stores already,so I never get why they have to keep expanding. It's okay to keep making the same amount of ridiculous money every year:)
