Thu, 10 Sep 2009 05:20:52 +0000Anonymous973@http://forum.collegetimes.us/
We should start also give tips on getting out of writer's block. My faves:

- Write out your points on a whiteboard.Write one point and write everything you can think of related and relevant underneath.Transfer to a notebook paper. This delves you into the writing process and really gets your brain "in the zone"
-write out part of your essay on email as if you were writing a friend. My emails usually are long because I'm just chatting,so it comes easily. It doesn't seem as formal
-wait a couple days, rewrite the beginning, say it out loud after every few paragraphs to get a flow going

What ideas do people have?

Note: these tricks are exponentially affective as the true length of the paper in question grows. lol

The Period Trick
At the end of your paper (or when you're sitting there with nothing else to type), go up to the toolbar and select Edit-Find (Ctrl+F)
Go to the "Replace" tab.
Type a period (.) in both fields. (You can also put a space ( ) after the second period for a little more length.
Click the "More" button.
Highlight the second period.
go down and select "Format-Font".
Change the font size to 14.
Press "Replace All"

Alot of people don't seem to know this one:

"Double" Space:
Highlight your paper and go to Format-Paragraph
In the Spacing section, under Line Spacing, select "At Least"
Under At, select 30

Character Spacing: Submitted by r0ckthoseboys
Click on format-font
Go to character spacing-choose expanded spacing.
This makes the spacing in between letters a little larger and is not very noticeable.

Most Teachers make you use Times New Roman but there are fonts like Courier New that space out a paper.

Click on format -> font, go to character spacing, and choose expanded spacing. This makes the spacing in between letters a little larger and is not very noticeable.
