Honestly not to be "old man yells at clouds" (I'm 25) but why do you need to tell the entire world you're at Walmart. I understand it's benefit to companies as a marketing tool and that they can offer coupons and discounts if you check in, but it's really excessive. I was talking to my friend earlier about how when we first got on facebook there were no status updates, no comments/liking thing, and only college kids. I don't even think you could upload photos (besides a profile pic). Oh how times have changed.

Fri, 20 Nov 2009 17:22:54 +0000Anonymous1184@http://forum.collegetimes.us/
Nice to see you here Shawn, hope you stay! You are obviously a big thinker who is unafraid to think out loud and exchange perspectives with others. That is an encouraging thing.

I think your view on mentors is very dead on - in a broad scope of ways. Not only is it decreasing critical thinking but also crafts and skills - our staff has talked about this multiple times. It seems to be contributing to why the youth feel so desperate to prove how unique they are with whatever things, like emo music or hipster bicycles! lol

Instead we consume from Costco and don't really need to think about much at all... =\

Tue, 10 Nov 2009 07:43:01 +0000Anonymous1140@http://forum.collegetimes.us/
Thanks for the invite Kelly, i'm excited to throw my pennies into these discussions, and really gain some additional viewpoints to broaden my scope of thought. I consider it essential to network to gain critical thinking skills in our current culture. Without the typical Mentor/Student Relationship we often see that these skills do not develop mostly due to the lack of personal application in our society. However, difficult discussions often breed thought provoking insight. Hopefully I will be able to give the members of this forum and you as well some new things to think about.

Sun, 30 Aug 2009 14:58:04 +0000Anonymous935@http://forum.collegetimes.us/
Hey JJ,

The gig sounds like a sweet deal. I love social media and networking sites and think this sounds like a great opportunity. I have experience using both Facebook and Twitter in promotional capacities and would love to give it a shot. I think a $100 a month salary sounds pretty fair. If you'd like a copy of resume or want to discuss this further, shoot me an e-mail at bsemida@gmail.com

Sat, 29 Aug 2009 13:54:55 +0000Anonymous932@http://forum.collegetimes.us/
I hate Facebook and Twitter with a passion, but web businesses can't live without them these days!

(We already created accounts for CollegeTimes on both of these sites)

We are looking for someone with very strong writing skills, very strong internet skills, and someone who is a social media junkie to manage and update the Facebook and Twitter accounts for CollegeTimes.us.

(Stop! Are you already confused? Then read no further! Tongue)

Responsibilities: (we aren't super strict, but want to see a solid effort each week)

- post a handful of updates/links from our site every week (often would be up to you... but sometimes we might ask for specific announcements and what not via email to you)

- interact/tweet-at-them/whatever its called and "friend" other college types of websites and bloggers etc on Facebook and Twitter to keep the buzz going

- respond on behalf of our business to users' questions, tweets, wall posts, etc (if in doubt, ask us for the answers)

Market price for these services plus a lot more including blogging etc go for about $200-500/month from professional SEO companies... we are looking for a college student/alumni who is willing to do our "toned-down" version of it for between 50-100 bucks a month if possible.

Any questions or comments, or negotiations, please post a reply thanks!
