I understand how that has to work. I meant in the articles themselves. If you allow proportional thumbnails in the posts, the thumbnails of images that aren't perfectly square look much better. As I noted, I can control that on my site under Settings, Media. Hmm, do you mean the article thumbnails that show up on the homepage next to the article intros? We have it set to exact 100x100 dimensions so that our layout stays consistent, otherwise it would look really sloppy if each article had a different sized thumbnail - we are using the "Get the Image" plugin by Justin Adlock.
